I was in severe pain and needed urgent care, and they were able to see me the very next morning by coming to the clinic at 6 am before all the other patients. Dr. Mathew was so compassionate and professional. The procedure was quick, efficient, and practically painless, and I felt genuinely cared for every step of the way.

These need attention today
- Severe or throbbing toothache that will not settle with pain relief
- Facial swelling, or swelling around the jaw or under the eye
- A knocked-out permanent tooth, where minutes genuinely matter
- A tooth broken with the nerve exposed, usually intensely sensitive
- Bleeding that will not stop after an extraction or injury
- A dental abscess, with a bump on the gum or a bad taste
- A crown or filling that has come out leaving a sharp or painful tooth
Swelling that is spreading, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or a fever with facial swelling is a medical emergency. Go to an emergency room rather than waiting for a dental appointment.

What to do in the meantime
Knocked-out tooth
Handle it by the crown, never the root. Rinse gently in milk or saline, do not scrub. Try to reseat it in the socket; if not, keep it in milk and get here immediately.
Severe toothache
Rinse with warm salt water, take over-the-counter pain relief as directed, and use a cold compress outside the cheek. Do not put aspirin against the gum, it burns the tissue.
Broken tooth
Save any pieces. Rinse your mouth with warm water and apply gauze if bleeding. Cover a sharp edge with dental wax or sugar-free gum to protect your tongue.
Lost crown or filling
Keep the crown if you have it. Avoid chewing on that side. Temporary dental cement from a pharmacy can cover a sensitive tooth for a day or so, but is not a repair.
Common questions
Questions we hear most
Do you see emergency patients who are not already patients here?
Yes. Same-day emergency appointments are available to both new and existing patients. Call (843) 970-3799 and describe what is happening so we can judge urgency and get you in appropriately.
What counts as a real dental emergency?
Anything involving uncontrolled bleeding, significant swelling, a knocked-out permanent tooth, or pain severe enough to disrupt sleeping or eating. A chipped tooth with no pain, or a lost filling that is not sensitive, is urgent but usually not same-day.
Should I go to the emergency room instead?
Go to an ER for facial swelling that is spreading, any difficulty breathing or swallowing, fever alongside swelling, or trauma involving possible jaw fracture. For dental pain itself, a hospital can generally only prescribe antibiotics and pain relief, not treat the cause. A dentist is the right destination.
What if it happens after hours or at the weekend?
Call the office number and follow the instructions on the message. For a knocked-out tooth, keep it moist in milk and get to a dentist as fast as possible, because the window for successful replantation is measured in tens of minutes, not hours.
How much does an emergency visit cost?
It depends entirely on what is needed, from a simple adjustment to a root canal or extraction. We will examine you, tell you what is required, and give you the cost before proceeding. Note that our $99 new patient special excludes emergency procedures.
Can you treat the pain today even if the full treatment takes longer?
Usually yes. The first priority is getting you out of pain, which often means draining an abscess, opening and medicating a tooth, or placing a temporary restoration. Definitive treatment can then be scheduled without you suffering in the meantime.

Patients we saw the same day
I had a dental emergency, called and they were able to not only get me in but completely fixed my problem the same day. I would highly recommend them for future dental needs.
I went in with severe tooth pain, and they performed the treatment during that very same appointment. Thank you for relieving my pain. 100% recommended.
I chipped a tooth and was in pain. Being new to the area I did not have a Dentist. I googled dentistry and came upon Ingleside Family Dental and made an appointment. Dr. Mathew called me and spoke to me everyday leading up to my appointment. She made me feel very comfortable and calmed my anxiety. Thank you to you and Diego for making my experience a 5 star.
I went there on the same day I broke my tooth and they repaired it so I didn't have to go into work with the broken tooth. The dentist is extremely nice and helpful. I'm actually switching dentists to them because it was so easy.
I recently had my first visit here as an emergency visit. Cannot recommend them enough! The entire staff was awesome. The office is immaculate with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. There was virtually no wait time, and the staff was professional, friendly, and attentive. They will be my primary dentist from this point forward.
Thank you, they are spectacular! Dr. Mathew attended to me quickly for my dental emergency. Thank you!
I saw Dr. Mathews on an emergency appointment. She did everything to make me comfortable and met my needs. I highly recommend her and her staff. She made my Christmas holidays so much better and fixed my problem.
My experience was great! I had an emergency and was placed on the schedule with no problems. I like that I have a treatment plan to get all my dental work taken care of!
I went there for a cleaning and the staff was very nice from the first moment I called. I had my work schedule change and needed to reschedule because I wouldn't be able to make it to my appointment by that time anymore. They fit me in the same day in the afternoon and made sure I was comfortable.
The experience was gentle and I was taken good care of by the dentist!!! In your time of emergency please seek this office!!!
